Catholic Parish Outreach (CPO) is the largest food pantry in Wake County, NC. It is a program of Catholic Charities, which is a 501c3 non-profit organization. They serve any resident of Wake, Johnston, or Franklin County. Clients are referred to CPO by human service agencies, churches, medical providers, and school counselors who see firsthand those who struggle in our community. Clients can receive groceries for their family at most once every 30 days. Clothing (children’s up to age 4 & maternity) and baby items are available; availability varies with donations on hand.
A committed group of members from St. Luke’s volunteer at CPO on Tuesday’s. There are a variety of jobs they participate in while volunteering such as packing bags of food, packing and unpacking trucks, handing out bags of food to clients, and help with distribution of children's clothing. St. Luke’s conducts food drives at the parish to help CPO re-stock their shelves. If you have questions or would like to join other volunteers please contact Joe Jacobs or Joe Hurray. For more information on about CPO you can access their website at cporaleigh.org.
This year has a couple changes:
1) The bags will be handed out early and collected during the entire month of Oct. in the lower gathering space.
2) There will be a special collection for CPO donations at all Masses the weekend of Oct. 31st - Nov. 1st
No time to shop? Make your check payable to Catholic Parish Outreach, and give it to a volunteer at the truck during the food drive. Or you can place in an envelope labeled CPO in the collection baskets during the month of October. A donation of $30 can feed a family for one week.
We are also in great need of children's books for preschoolers for our clothing ministry!
Thank you for all donations!
