At St. Luke's, we have two groups that sing at Sunday Masses: the Choir and the Schola.
The Choir sings at the 8:30am Mass and typically practices every Thursday at 6:30-8:00pm. Music repertoire, in addition to the Mass Ordinary and hymns, includes SATB choir selections, plainchants, and polyphony drawn from throughout the Church's history.
The Schola sings at the 11:00am Mass and practices every Tuesday at 6:30-8:00pm. The main musical focus of the Schola is on Gregorian Chant and other plainchant, especially the Propers of the Mass, but also includes other forms such as polyphony.
For Christmas and Easter, the Choir and Schola combine forces to make even more beautiful music possible. During the seasons of Advent and Lent, both groups practice together on Tuesdays evenings at 6:30-8:00pm to prepare for Christmas and Easter, respectively.
Practices for both groups are usually held in the music office.
