Faith Formation at St. Luke’s is a life long process. We offer programs for all ages to grow and nurture their faith.
For more information on faith formation opportunities see the following options:
While we have no formal faith formation program for children of pre-school age, we do offer St. Luke’s Playgroup every Thursday morning from 9:30-11:30am in the nursery.
Also, pre-schoolers are always welcome to participate in our Vacation Bible School every summer.
We offer a comprehensive faith formation program for children in grades Kindergarten through 5th. Sacramental preparation for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Communion take place in 1st and 2nd grade. We meet on most Tuesday evenings during the traditional school year, from 6:15-7:45pm. Parents and children gather for an assembly for the first 15 minutes for a game, songs, and announcements.
Grades 6th-8th are welcome to come to our middle school youth program, called Carpe Diem. We play games, eat food, and learn about our faith. We also have day trips, service projects, and lock-ins which help the middle schoolers experience and live their faith. We meet most Sunday afternoons from 4pm-6pm.
Grades 9th-12th are welcome to come to our high school youth program, called Vita Nova. We have time to socialize, we sing praise and worship songs, we learn about our faith, we discuss relevant things in small groups, and we pray together. Additionally, we go on retreats, do service projects, and fun trips as well. Confirmation preparation takes place in Vita Nova and a special Confirmation class over 9th and 10th grade. Vita Nova meets most Sunday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
Adult Faith Formation
At St. Luke’s, we have many opportunities to build, grow, and form your faith as an adult. Every year we offer bible studies, theological studies, men’s and women’s study groups, and various thematic sessions throughout the year. See the adult faith formation page for more information about opportunities at St. Luke’s.
Adults who wish to be enter the Catholic Church do so through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). The RCIA is a process of spiritual growth and learning about Catholicism. Through the RCIA, you are invited to enter into a relationship with God and the Church. Those who go through the RCIA and wish to become Christians are baptized. If you are already baptized and want to become Catholic, you will prepare for your Confirmation and 1st Eucharist.
